about
Last spring I spent a lot of time wading in creeks, collecting sounds, notes for an album. My friend had loaned me a Meng Qi Wingie II and the sounds you are hearing are the Patapsco River being live processed. (I live about 12 miles from the Key Bridge, inland where the river takes the form of cascading waterfalls and narrow streams.) I layered in a tape loop with clicks and pops, and my son at a violin lesson, along with some soft vocals. The sound becomes quite whimsical and went to the cutting room floor for the album. But it was kindly mastered by my friend Markus and made for my friend Jerry on their birthday. It was fun to mine this out even with my performance style changing. Wishing everyone a good spring despite all of it.
